With hope, optimism, and a dash of whimsy, we are proud to introduce the No-Name Discussion Group. As a deliberate counter-weight to the atomizing, rigid nature of fascism, our goal is to foster genuine community connection, shared optimism, and practical problem-solving. We deeply embrace the butterfly effect: the idea that small, local, positive actions can ripple outward in profound ways. Accordingly, we are striving to create a welcoming space where folks can pragmatically address concrete challenges right here in our community. We want to keep this process as open and flexible as possible—which is why we chose the moniker “No-Name,” allowing the group’s focus to evolve organically based on what our neighbors actually need. In time, we envision the No-Name gathering branching out into several smaller groups covering distinct topics.
Like us, do you believe in the power of the butterfly effect? If so, join us for our very first No-Name meeting at Felixology on November 1st at 6:00 PM. Come tell us: what kinds of community groups would you like to see emerge?
As a parallel project, we are currently constructing a new philosophy. Every week, in real time, we will be serially posting a small section of our rough draft. We hope this timeline will keep us motivated to continue writing. Nationwide, critical thinking has decreased and tribalism has increased. To counter this, we strongly encourage folks to comment with their honest unvarnished opinion about our project. We believe this public dialogue will rekindle critical thinking. We note that in recent years, differences of opinion have locked into a dynamic of mutual destruction. We hope to shift that dynamic to one in which differences are the engine of positive change.
Here is the first instalment of our new philosophy. What do you think?
